UNICEF REPRESENTATIVE MEETS GENDER MINISTER TO REFLECT ON YEARS OF COLLABORATION

The UNICEF Representative in Ghana, Mr. Osama Makkawi Khogali has met with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, to discuss ongoing collaboration between UNICEF and the Ministry in strengthening child protection and social development interventions in Ghana.

During the meeting, Mr. Khogali expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation received from the Ministry and development partners over the course of his works in the country. He noted that he was in the process of wrapping up his tenure and undertaking final engagements, including meetings and appreciation visits to key stakeholders.

He further highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration in advancing programmes that benefit children and vulnerable populations, adding that the progress made has been supported by strong partnership and mutual commitment.

Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey on her part, commended UNICEF for its continuous support to the Ministry and its contribution to national efforts in child protection, social welfare and development programming.

She emphasised the importance of building on existing interventions to further strengthen systems that safeguard the well-being of children across Ghana.

Both parties reviewed ongoing initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in addressing challenges affecting children and families while promoting inclusive and sustainable social protection.

The meeting ended on a warm note, with both the Minister and Khogali expressing appreciation for the strong partnership that existed between the Ministry and UNICEF over the years.
