2026 MID-YEAR PERFORMANCE REVIEW WORKSHOP

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has commenced its 2026 Mid-Year Performance Review and 2027 Strategic Planning and Budget Prioritisation Workshop.

The workshop brings together Management, Regional Directors from the Departments of Children and Gender, members of the Ministry’s Advisory Board and other key officials to collectively assess the Ministry’s performance and determine strategic priorities for the remainder of 2026 and 2027.

Day one focused on reviewing the Ministry’s performance, with participants examining planned and achieved results. Participants subsequently worked in groups to identify practical solutions to key implementation bottlenecks, including human resource capacity, service delivery finanace, procurement among other key issues.

Addressing participants at the opening of the workshop, the Minister, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, said the exercise was important because the Ministry’s work touches people at some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. She noted that, the Ministry’s policies and programmes must ultimately be judged by the difference they make in people’s lives.

The Minister said government had made important commitments to advancing gender equality, protecting children, strengthening social protection, improving social welfare services and ensuring that vulnerable people were not left behind.

She however stressed that policy commitments would only be meaningful when translated into effective implementation.

“Our task as a ministry is to build the systems, institutions, programmes and partnerships necessary to convert these commitments into measurable results,” she said.

The Minister further urged participants to look beyond individual programmes and consider the strength of the overall protection and inclusion system being built by the Ministry. According to her, the interconnected nature of vulnerability means that beneficiaries of one intervention may require support from other areas of the Ministry’s mandate.

The Minister’s remarks underscored the need for stronger coordination and an integrated approach to service delivery as the Ministry reviews its performance and prepares its strategic priorities for 2027.

Discussions on Day One culminated in work towards a 2026 Recovery Plan, with an Action Matrix outlining key actions, responsibilities, timelines, collaborators and expected results for the remaining months of the year.

The outcomes of the discussions will inform the Ministry’s recovery actions for the remainder of the 2026 and the strategic priorities to be pursued in 2027.
