MoGCSP EXPLORES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH AUDA-NEPAD TO ADVANCE WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment during a meeting with a delegation from the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) led by the Director of Human Capital and and Institutional Development, Mr. Symerre Grey-Johnson.

The meeting, held at the Ministry followed earlier engagement between the Minister and representatives of AUDA-NEPAD during the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of (CSW70) in New York.

Welcoming the delegation, the Minister expressed appreciation for the visit and underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration between Ghana and AUDA-NEPAD in promoting the welfare and empowerment of women across the continent.

The delegation briefed the Minister on the African Women’s Empowerment Programme (AWEP), highlighting its focus on women’s economic empowerment, leadership development and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of vulnerable women.

They also explored opportunities for Ghana to support and domesticate aspects of the programme to expand its impact at national level.

Discussions further focused on areas of mutual interest, including investment in women, leadership development and strengthening partnerships to accelerate progress toward gender equality and inclusive development.

The delegation also informed the Minister about a series of upcoming continental engagements including consultations marking the 25th anniversary of the African Women’s Empowerment Programme and other events aimed at promoting African arts, culture, creativity and women’s leadership.

They invited Ghana to play a leading role in these initiatives and commended the country’s continued commitment to gender and development issues.

Both parties expressed optimism about deepening cooperation and leveraging their shared commitment to advancing women’s empowerment and sustainable development across Africa.
