The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison participated in this year’s Aged Day Celebration organised by the Member of Parliament for Tema Central Constituency, Hon. Kofi Brako on 1st October, 2019.

The event was celebrated to mark the United Nations International Day of Older Person held on October 1, every year.

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Ishmael Ashietey said the day was set aside to appreciate the contributions that older people make to the society.
He thanked the people of Tema for their immense contributions towards nation building.

In his remarks, Hon. Kofi Brako, Member of Parliament for Tema Central Constituency pledged to continue contributing his quota to the development of the constituency.
He further stated that, an Ultra modern Aged Centre will be put up for the people of Tema. This Centre he said will have facilities such as Chps compound, Library, tennis court and a recreational Centre.
The architectural design of the Aged Centre was unveiled to participants who attended the event.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection in her statement entreated parents to be responsible for the upkeep of their children.
She used the occasion to admonish parents to always speak positive words about their children as this have positive effects on their lives.

The Gender Minister added that, government through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection have rolled out numerous intervention programs and policies meant to cater and better the lives of the aged in the society.
She made a passionate appeal to all and sundry to always help the aged feel comfortable in their various communities.
