The Minister for Gender, Children & Social Protection, Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison has disclosed plans of making the school feeding registration a digital one.

The Sector Minister is envisaging of creating an online platform for the registration of caterers onto the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).

She explained that the registration of caterers on the digital platform will help the Ministry get an authentic and accurate data by knowing the number of schools, pupils and caterers that are exactly on the school feeding programme. Also issues of payment as well as monitoring the works of the caterers will be well coordinated and processed.

“We want to adopt the of use bio-metric registration to register and monitor the activities of the cooks and also to disburse their payments. This will ensure the system is well sanitised and issues are well managed” she said.

Hon. Cynthia Morrison made these known when she interacted with caterers of the Greater Accra Region met at both the Ladade Kotopon, Amasaman, Tema, and La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assemblies. The engagement with the caterers forms part of the Hon. Minister’s incorruptible efforts to clean the GSFP data on caterers across the country.

The Acting National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Dr. Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah also disclosed that the rapid growth of the School Feeding Programme to 62% necessitated the online registration.

Just as the Minister, she was optimistic that the initiative will help her outfit to supervise the caterers and assess their performance.
