The Projects Coordination Unit under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in collaboration with UNICEF Ghana have held a day’s session on the Orientation for the Social Welfare Information Management Systems (SWIMS) Field Monitoring and Coaching for selected IT officers of the Ministry on Friday 9th April, 2021 .

The purpose of the session was to get IT officers fully abreast with the technicalities of the system and discuss the Terms of Reference for the Regional SWIMS field coaching and monitoring. The Orientation session came as preparatory efforts ahead of the roll out plan for the Integrated Social Services (ISS) and SWIMS Live in 60 MMDAs and 40 additional MMDAs in the country.

SWIMS is a database of documents and reports on the provision of Social Welfare Services. SWIMS details how to strengthen capacity, coordination and systems for delivery of integrated social welfare services which includes referral and standard procedures for domestic and Gender based violence, Teen Pregnancy and child marriage, children in conflict with the law/ Juvenile Justice, children outside of parental or relative care and abandonment, child labour and trafficking, child maintenance and custody and finally, to the key social services for LEAP and other vulnerable families.
