The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection as part of executing its mandate is embarking on a weeklong joint spot check visits to LEAP payment sites/pay points in selected Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country.
The Joint Spot Check exercise (the first for this year), commenced on Monday, 18th January, 2021, and will continue throughout the whole week.
The Ministry as part of monitoring the exercise constituted teams and tasked them to collate data on various indicators to track performances of the Programme.
The exercise will also enable the Ministry observe payment processes, touch base with the beneficiaries, and other key stakeholders to acquire first hand information, insights and shortfalls to help inform decisions geared towards improving the programmes’ operations and implementation mechanisms.
The LEAP programme is one of Ghana’s flagship social protection interventions which provides cash transfer targeted at reducing poverty by increasing consumption and promoting access to social services such as education, health and opportunities among extremely poor households in Ghana.
