In a significant step toward strengthening Ghana’s resilience to emergencies, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection through the Social Protection Directorate has organized a two-day technical working session from November 13-14, 2024, aimed at designing the National Social Protection Shock Response Strategy (NSPSRS), and its accompanying standard operating procedure (SoP) and Implementation Plan.
The event brought together a range of stakeholders, including academia, civil society organizations, and government institutions including relevant Government Ministries, Department and Agencies, NADMO, Ghana Meteorological Agency, and the Office of the Head of Local Government Service.
The NSPSRS together with its related SOP and Implementation Plan, when completed will guide the delivery of well-coordinated and timely response and support services toward mitigating the impact of shocks on Ghanaians, especially the poor and vulnerable.
