FINALIZATION OF INTER-SECTORAL STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR CASEWORK AND MANAGEMENT IN CHILD PROTECTION AND FAMILY WELFARE

The Department of Children in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) held a day’s workshop in Accra on Tuesday, 10th December, 2019.
The meeting was organised to finalize the Inter-Sectoral Standard Operating Procedure (ISSOP) for Child and Family Welfare.
The ISSOP provides a harmonized framework of agreed principles and procedures for all child protection and family welfare stakeholders.
This would enable stakeholders to understand each other’s roles and responsibilities as well as set standard essentials for working together for the effective management of child protection cases.
Stakeholders were drawn from the Department of Children, Social Welfare, Community Development, Child Labour Unit, CHRAJ, DOVVSU, Human Trafficking, and Domestic Violence Secretariat, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Health Service, Births and Deaths Registry, Local Government Service, NHIS, and UNICEF.
Mr. Mawutor Ablo, Director PPMED who welcomed participants on behalf of the Chief Director for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Afisah Zakariah said there is the need to put in place mechanisms that allows children grow in order to attain their full potentials.
