DOUBLING OF THE DOUBLE LEAP CASH GRANTS

At a press briefing held on Friday, June 28, 2024, the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dakoa Newman, announced that the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), has doubled the cash grants for households benefiting from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.
“Following a 100% increase in June 2023, the grants will now see an additional 100% increase with immediate effect. This increase aims to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life for disadvantaged citizens”. She said.
She disclosed that the new bi-monthly grant amounts are:
– One-Member Households: GHȻ256.00
– Two-Member Households: GHȻ304.00
– Three-Member Households: GHȻ352.00
– Four-Member Households: GHȻ424.00
The revised grant amounts will ensure immediate benefits, helping families meet basic needs and invest in their future well-being.
The Minister added that the government has allocated GHȻ103,251,072.01 to support 324,073 beneficiary households.
The LEAP programme’s goal is to reduce poverty by promoting human capital development among Ghana’s poorest households.
