CYBERSECURITY AND CHILD ONLINE PROTECTION TRAINING

The Research, Statistics and Information Management (RSIM) Directorate of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has successfully organized a four-day training on Cybersecurity and Child Online Protection for staff of the Ministry.

The training, held in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Authority (CSA) formed part of efforts to strengthen staff capacity in digital safety and child protection, particularly in the context of increasing online risks.

Officers from the CSA facilitated the sessions, taking participants through key aspects of Child Online Protection, with emphasis on the risks and vulnerabilities associated with children’s online activities in Ghana.

The training also explored Ghana’s cybersecurity landscape, highlighting persistent and emerging digital threats.

Staff were further introduced to Child Online Safety Toolkits to support programme implementation and enhance education on responsible and safe digital practices.

Highlighting the importance of the training, the Director of RSIM, Dr. Sylvester Kyei Gyamfi, underscored the importance of equipping staff with the requisite knowledge and tools to effectively address issues of online safety, particularly as digital engagements continue to grow.

The training is expected to significantly enhance staff capacity to promote safe digital practices and also strengthen the Ministry’s efforts to protect children
