Following the successful breast cancer awareness, sensitization, and screening exercises held for female inmates at Nsawam Prison and market women at Kaneshie Market Complex, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, through the Department of Gender, extended its outreach to school children.
On October 29, 2024, students at the Kingsway Cluster of Schools in Kaneshie participated in a breast cancer awareness and screening session aimed at promoting early detection and educating youth on breast health.
The event, led by the Minister, Honorable Dakoa Newman, emphasized the importance of awareness from a young age and empowered students with knowledge on the importance of early screening and prevention practices.
The Ministry’s collaboration with the Nsawam Prison, Kaneshie Market Complex, and the schools highlights its comprehensive approach to public health and its dedication to raising awareness across diverse groups.
By engaging various target groups in these sensitization and screening efforts, the Ministry aims to foster a culture of preventive health measures and support Ghana’s broader public health goals.
