The National Council For Persons With Disability of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has conducted a Two-day (26th & 27th July, 2018)monitoring exercise dubbed ‘Accessibility Auditing’ of some selected institutions in Kumasi.

The exercise was to ascertain how friendly those institutions’ (public & private) structures were to people with disability.

Issues of accessibility for people living with disability is of a great concern to the Ministry.
After launching Ghana Accessibility Standard for the Built Environment (for Accessibility to all) in 2015, MoGCSP seeks to enforce the provisions in Ghana’s building regulations so that they become requirements in construction to both private & public institutions.

This, the ministry believes will ease the burden on Persons with Disability so they can have access to all public services without hindrance.
