HTS STRENGTHENS STAFF CAPACITY

The Human Trafficking Secretariat (HTS) of the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) successfully held a three-day staff meeting and training aimed at enhancing the capacity of its team on human trafficking issues and improving Occupational, Safety, and Health (OSH) practices in the workplace.
The event, which was held from the 8th to 10th January 2025, brought together staff and a resource person from the International Labour Organization (ILO), focused on critical areas such as the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for victim care and protection.
Participants were taken through sessions on OSH concepts, strategies for improving victim protection, and practical approaches to applying OSH principles in shelters and offices, among other relevant topics.
Interactive discussions, group work, and Q&A segments were integrated into the training to foster an engaging and comprehensive learning experience. This initiative highlights HTS’s commitment to equipping its personnel with the skills and knowledge necessary to combat human trafficking effectively while promoting a safe and conducive working environment.
Speaking at the event, the Head of the Human Trafficking Secretariat, Madam Abena Annobea Asare, emphasized the importance of continuous capacity-building for staff.
She stated: “This training reaffirms our dedication to protecting victims of human trafficking and ensuring that our staff operate in a safe and supportive environment. Together, we can strengthen our efforts to combat trafficking and safeguard the rights of all vulnerable individuals.”
Staff expressed appreciation for the insightful and highlighted the practical applications of the knowledge gained.
The training marks another milestone in HTS’s ongoing efforts to enhance staff professionalism and the quality of services rendered to victims, with plans for further capacity-building initiatives in the near future.
