The 94th and 95th payment cycles of the cash grant to eligible households under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme commenced a few weeks ago across the country.
LEAP is a social cash transfer programme designed to support Ghana’s poorest households, with the objective of alleviating poverty by fostering human capital development and ensuring consumption smoothing.
As part of its mandate, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (since last week 25th March, 2025) is conducting joint spot check visits to LEAP payment centers/pay points in selected Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country.
To facilitate the monitoring exercise, the Ministry has formed dedicated teams tasked with collecting data on various indicators to assess the performance of the programme.
Additionally, these visits provide an opportunity for the Ministry to monitor payment processes and engage directly with beneficiaries to assess the impact of the programme on their lives.
For the combined 94th and 95th LEAP cycles, beneficiary households are receiving the following payments:
One eligible member household: GH₵ 512.00
Two eligible member households: GH₵ 608.00
Three eligible member households: GH₵ 704.00
Four or more eligible member households: GH₵ 848.00
The Joint Spot Check, which began on 25th March 2025, is expected to benefit a total of 350,000 LEAP beneficiary households across all 260 MMDAs nationwide.
The payments cover two cycles—November–December 2024 (94th cycle) and January–February 2025 (95th cycle)—and are being disbursed through the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GHIPSS) to beneficiaries’ E-Zwich accounts.
The amount paid to each household is determined by the number of eligible members within the household. Eligible categories include:
Orphans and vulnerable children
Elderly persons aged 65 and above without support
Persons with severe disabilities who are unable to work
Pregnant women and mothers with infants under one year.
