Key government institutions have convened for a stakeholders meeting aimed at reviewing and providing technical input into Ghana’s forthcoming United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Data Analytics and Statistics Report.

The meeting, coordinated by the Human Trafficking Secretariat (HTS) of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, forms part of efforts to strengthen national coordination and ensure accuracy in Ghana’s data reporting.

The engagement brought together national actors through a consultative process to support the development of the report.

The collaborative approach is expected to produce comprehensive, credible, and harmonized data, particularly in areas relating to justice delivery, crime prevention, migration, and social protection.

Data submitted by Ghana will feed into global monitoring frameworks and contribute to the measurement of international indicators under the UNODC system.

Speaking at the meeting, the Head of the Human Trafficking Secretariat, Madam Abena Annobea Asare, underscored the importance of institutional collaboration in national data reporting. She noted that the quality of Ghana’s submission depends largely on the accuracy and timeliness of data provided by partner institutions, adding that the exercise would help present a true reflection of the country’s efforts in combating crime and protecting vulnerable populations.

Ultimately, the meeting sought to produce a robust and standardized national report that accurately represents Ghana’s progress and commitment to addressing crime and related social issues in line with international obligations.
