The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), through the Human Trafficking Secretariat, held a stakeholder consultative meeting on human trafficking and irregular migration.

The meeting assembled key stakeholders from government institutions, civil society organisations, international agencies, and law enforcement bodies to deliberate on progress made in the fight against human trafficking and irregular migration.

The engagement formed part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry to strengthen coordination and promote collective action in addressing these issues. It provided a platform for stakeholders to review current programmes, assess policy implementation, and plan strategic activities for the year 2026 and beyond.

Discussions focused on the review of the National Plan of Action for the Elimination of Human Trafficking, assessment of the Human Trafficking Act to identify areas for strengthening, planning towards the commemoration of the World Day Against Human Trafficking, and the identification of persistent challenges affecting the effectiveness of ongoing interventions.

Other areas of discussion included stakeholders’ expectations for 2026 and the identification of focus areas for each participating institution. These deliberations are expected to inform the development of coordinated action plans and ensure a more results-oriented and collaborative national response to human trafficking and irregular migration.

This initiative underscores the Ministry’s continuous commitment to promoting human rights, safeguarding vulnerable populations, and consolidating national efforts to combat human trafficking and irregular migration in all its forms.
