SENSITIZATION ON THE PROFILE OF PROGRESS ON ENDING CHILD MARRIAGE IN GHANA

The Child Marriage Unit of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) on Thursday 5th September 2024, held a one-day sensitization program for MoGCSP’s staff on the Profile of Progress on ending Child Marriage in the country.
The primary goal was to increase awareness, enhance the knowledge of the staff on the progress made in ending child marriage, its dangers, and the need for prevention and response.
It was also to encourage the Ministrys’ staff to adopt supportive behaviours and practices to help combat early child and forced marriages in Ghana.
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is mandated to coordinate and ensure Gender equality, promote the survival, social protection and development of children, vulnerable, excluded and persons with disability and to integrate fulfilment of their right, created the Child Marriage Unit.
The Unit is to coordinate and monitor activities of implementing partners and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on ending child marriage and all forms of
harmful practices by 2030.
The training will ensure that staff gets clear understanding on the need to end child marriage and the importance of collaborating with the Unit to help eradicate child marriage by 2030.
