NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON WORLD SOCIAL WORKDAY

The Department of Social Welfare, of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection will on Tuesday March 19, hold a National Symposium to commemorate the 2024 World Social Work Day at Kempinski, Accra.

The theme for the event dubbed *” Proffessionalisation of Social Work Practice: A shared Future for Ghana’s Transformative Change”* with the aim to raise awareness about the significance of Proffessionalisation of social work practice and its relevance to social development.

It is also expected to facilitate knowledge-sharing and the exchange of best practices among the social services workforce as well as advocate for increased support and investment in the professional development of social workers to enhance their effectiveness.

This year’s Symposium is hosted in collaboration with Ghana Association of Social Workers and UNICEF Ghana.

The World Social Work Day is an annual event celebrated globally to recognise the contributions of social workers and highlight the importance of their profession in promoting social justice, human rights and well-being.

Participants to grace the programme are Social Workers across the country in both private and public sectors, key stakeholders including a Special Guest of Honour, representatives of Ghana Journalist Association, Development Partners, NPOs, Accademia, traditional leaders and students.
