MONITORING OF PEOPLE LIVING ON THE STREETS

On Monday 15th July 2024, the Minister of MoGCSP together with the Chief Director and the Director of Social Welfare at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection undertook a monitoring exercise on selected streets of Accra to observe and interact with persons living on the streets.

They particularly engaged children, parents and guardians of the children, as well as young adolescent girls to obtain first-hand information on their living conditions, reasons for their presence on the streets and challenges, in order to collectively provide lasting solutions to this social issue we are currently facing.

A comprehensive report will be put together and submitted to the inter ministerial committee for action.

The government is committed to protecting our children and ensuring they are raised in a safe and nurturing environment.
