The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has conducted a nationwide monitoring exercise for the 97th cycle of the regular Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) payment.
The monitoring, carried out in selected communities across all regions, aimed to ensure the smooth and transparent disbursement of cash grants to eligible beneficiaries, including the elderly, persons with severe disabilities, and orphaned and vulnerable children.
Monitoring teams visited the selected districts across the 16 regions, where they observed the payment process, engaged with community members and beneficiaries, and assessed the overall efficiency of the distribution.
During the exercise, the teams also conducted brief sensitisation sessions on key social protection themes such as child welfare, savings, and the responsible use of the LEAP grant. Beneficiaries were encouraged to prioritise the health, education, and nutritional needs of children in their households.
Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the government for the continued support, noting that the cash grants help them provide food, medicine, and other essentials for their families.
The LEAP Programme remains a core component of Ghana’s social protection framework, providing bi-monthly cash support to over 344,000 extremely poor households nationwide. The monitoring of the 97th cycle reaffirms the Ministry’s commitment to improving service delivery, strengthening transparency, and ensuring that no eligible person is left behind.
