The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is closely following the case of the seven year old girl from Mamobi who suffered severe burns after allegedly being punished for bed wetting.

The Ministry has been engaging the family and monitoring the child’s well-being since the matter was reported nearly two months ago.

Acting on the directive of the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, officers from the Domestic Violence Secretariat and the Social Protection Directorate have maintained contact with the family to ensure the victim receives the necessary care and support during her recovery.

As part of these efforts, the Minister specifically instructed the Head of the Domestic Violence Secretariat and the Director in charge of the Social Protection Directorate to visit the family to assess the current state of the child, ensure that all her recovery and well-being needs are adequately met and reassure the family of the Ministry’s firm commitment to supporting them throughout the process.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that this case and all cases of abuse reported are thoroughly pursued through the appropriate channels to their logical conclusion.
