MoGCSP DEEPENS SOCIAL PROTECTION EFFORTS.

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), through the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR), has commenced an enumeration exercise in the Asante Akim South Municipality.

The exercise, which forms part of the ongoing national scale-up of the GNHR database and the nationwide Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) reassessment, seeks to obtain accurate data on households and populations to support effective planning, targeted development interventions, and inclusion in national social protection programmes.

As part of the enumeration process, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, paid a working visit to monitor the exercise and interact with members of the Saviour Church Community in the Asante Akim South Municipality.

The Minister’s visit fulfills the promises made to the community by prioritising the full enumeration of residents to ensure that all households are covered and every eligible family is considered for future enrolment onto LEAP and other key government social protection programmes.

Beyond the enumeration, the Ministry has been fulfilling its mandate by providing both material and psychosocial support to affected families and the wider community since the tragic incident occurred.

Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey commended the President for his commitment to the welfare of vulnerable groups, particularly children, through the Ministry.

She also expressed appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive and local authorities for their continuous support to the aggrieved families and the community at large.

Concluding her visit, the Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening social protection systems to ensure that no vulnerable household is left behind.

She emphasized that, through programmes such as LEAP and other complementary interventions, the Ministry is working to provide a safety net that will uplift the poorest and most vulnerable in society.

The Minister was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, MCE for Asante Akim South; the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr. Afisah Zakariah; and the Head of the GNHR, Dr. Richard Adjetey.
