The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, led a team from the Ministry to the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) to receive the Certificate of Approval for the Ministry’s Medium-Term Development Plan (2026–2029).
The Ministry was among the first seven Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to be awarded the certification.
The certification validates the Ministry’s Medium-Term Plan as compliant with statutory requirements, the Medium-Term National Development Policy Framework and international commitments.
The certified plans form part of the national effort to advance Ghana’s medium-term development agenda under the theme of the Resetting Ghana Agenda, which focuses on creating jobs, ensuring accountability, promoting shared prosperity, and driving sustainable growth.
These plans have been structured around five core development dimensions: Economic development, Social development, Environment Infrastructure and spatial planning, Governance and institutional development, and international relations
In a brief statement, the Minister, who also serves as a commissioner of the NDPC, expressed appreciation to the Commission for its guidance and support throughout the planning process.
She emphasized that the certification was not merely a formality but a call to action, underscoring the Ministry’s resolve to fully implement the plan to address the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians, particularly women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the national development agenda.
The Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, noted that the certification is not an end in itself but rather the beginning of a new phase of implementation.
The Commission further reminded MDAs that, in line with Section 10(b) of the Public Financial Management Act, every cabinet entity is required to prepare its budget based on an approved medium-term development plan.
