The ROBB Foundation, established in 2016 brings together health professionals and volunteers to campaign for change and provide innovative services that enable individuals with Down syndrome to lead fulfilling lives.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusivity, aligning with President John Mahama’s vision of ensuring that no one is left behind. She reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to reducing vulnerability among persons with disabilities and safeguarding their rights.
“Count me as your key partner in ensuring that persons with Down syndrome are protected,” The Minister affirmed.
The ROBB Foundation presented a petition to the Minister, outlining both immediate and long-term strategies to enhance support systems for individuals with Down syndrome.
The Minister pledged to review the proposals in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and take them into consideration in the Ministry’s decision making.
In a show of solidarity, the Ministry announced its participation in the upcoming World Down Syndrome Day events organized by the ROBB Foundation on March 21st, 2025. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to improving support systems and promoting the rights of individuals with Down syndrome in Ghana.
The government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities include policies aimed at increasing their representation in decision-making processes and ensuring accessibility in public spaces. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to creating an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of ability, can thrive.
