GIRLS NOT BRIDES GHANA PARTNERSHIP CALLS ON GENDER MINISTER

Girls Not Brides Ghana, a national partnership of civil society organizations committed to ending child marriage, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to introduce their work and explore possible collaboration in addressing child marriage and related harmful practices.

The team, led by its National Chairperson, Faustina Osei Prempeh, briefed the Hon. Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, on their key initiatives, including Pathways to Ghana Progress: Addressing Legislative Gaps in Child Marriage and Customary Practices in Ghana.

They also formally invited the Ministry to participate in an upcoming Impact Stories Interview, which aims to document the Ministry’s experiences and contributions in this space for use in future advocacy and donor engagements.

Discussions during the meeting centered on strengthening stakeholder partnerships and accelerating legislative and social reforms to protect girls from early and forced marriages.

The Girls Not Brides delegation emphasized the importance of the Ministry’s leadership in achieving long-term impact and pledged their continued support in advancing child protection efforts.

The Hon. Minister welcomed the team and commended the organization for its commitment and advocacy.

She reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to ending child marriage through policy implementation, community sensitization, and collaboration with stakeholders. She emphasized that addressing child marriage is a shared responsibility and that the Ministry remains focused on safeguarding the rights and welfare of every Ghanaian child, especially girls.
