GENDER MINISTER VISITS INJURED VICTIMS AND BEREAVED FAMILIES OF STAMPEDE (2)

Following the earlier visits made by the Government’s Delegation to some bereaved families located in Adenta and Kpone katamanso, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, together with the Deputy Minister of Defence, Hon. Ernest Brogya Gyenfi, and some officials from both Ministries, on Friday 14th November 2025, extended their sympathy to the additional families impacted by the recent stampede.

The purpose of the visit by the two Ministers was to express condolences to the families of the prospective military recruits who tragically lost their lives, reaffirming the Government’s solidarity during this challenging time.

The delegation visited families in Mankessim, Kasoa and Omanjor where the Minister offered words of encouragement.

Refreshment Donation and Monetary Support were also presented to the families as a gesture of sympathy and assistance during this time of grief.

During the interactions, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey assured the families that the nation stands behind them and that Government will provide all relevant support to help them cope with their loss.

She further noted that the Ministry will lead in providing psycho-social support services to the affected families and survivors to aid their emotional recovery process.

“You are not alone. The Government and the people of Ghana stand with you, and we will support you through this journey of healing,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Defence Minister, Hon. Ernest Brogya Gyenfi revealed that H. E. John Dramani Mahama has offered families of the deceased applicants from the El-Wak military recruitment stampede the opportunity to present a replacement for enlistment in the army.

The Government’s delagation also made a visit to the residence of one of the survivors of the stampede, where she was encouraged to return to the 37 Military Hospital to udergo complete treatment and recovery before returning home.
