GENDER MINISTER MAKES DONATIONS & PRESENTS ITEMS TO THE ARK FOUNDATION GHANA.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, during a working visit to The Ark Foundation Ghana, presented essential items procured under the MoGCSP–UNFPA Ghana programme to support the Foundation’s shelter services.
The Minister also provided extra items from her personal commitment after assessing the requirements of the facility.
Moreover, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey made a personal donation of GHC 10,000 to assist the Foundation with operational costs and welfare needs of survivors.
The Ark Foundation is one of Ghana’s leading institutions providing shelter, counselling, legal aid, and psychosocial support to abused women and vulnerable children.
The visit formed part of the Minister’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with frontline service providers that play a vital role in the national protection system.
The Minister, who was accompanied by some officials from the Ministry, explained that the visit aligns with the Ministry’s work plan and represents a renewed commitment to supporting organisations delivering essential services to survivors of abuse.
The Minister expressed her appreciation to the Foundation for its long-standing contribution to Ghana’s social protection landscape.
She explained that The Ark Foundation played an important role in her own formative years in gender advocacy and social work, describing the visit as both official and deeply personal.
Receiving the delegation, the Executive Director of The Ark Foundation, Dr. Angela Dwamena Aboagye, welcomed the team and highlighted the Foundation’s role in providing refuge, crisis response, and rehabilitation services for women and children escaping domestic and gender-based violence. She noted that despite the critical services they offer, the Foundation continues to face significant financial and operational challenges.
Management of The Ark Foundation expressed gratitude to the Minister and the Ministry, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.
