Following its inaugural session in September, the Gender Equity Committee, established under the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act, 2024, held its second meeting.
The meeting focused on consolidating progress made during the first sitting and reviewing critical working documents to guide the Committee’s operations. Key items discussed included the draft template for disaggregated data collection, draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for sub-committees, and the draft design of the Certificate of Compliance.
Members also reviewed and adopted minutes of the previous meeting.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the objectives of the Act by ensuring that data, structures, and compliance mechanisms reflect gender equity principles across all sectors.
In her remarks, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey commended members for their dedication and emphasized the Ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary support to ensure the full implementation of the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act.
“This Committee plays a pivotal role in transforming policy into meaningful action. Together, we must ensure that gender equity is not just a principle on paper but a lived reality for every Ghanaian,” she stated.
