DRY SPELL EMERGENCY CASH TRANSFER TO LEAP BENEFICIARIES

Following an eight-week dry spell, which severely disrupted agricultural activity and threatened food security across eight regions: Bono, Bono East, Oti, Northern, North-East, Savannah, Upper East, and Upper West, the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection jointly with the World Bank and UNICEF launched the emergency cash transfer to help meet the immediate needs of LEAP beneficiaries.
To ensure the successful implementation of this activity, MoGCSP has formed teams and tasked them to overseeing the disbursement of the “Dry Spell Emergency Cash Transfer” to beneficiary households of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.
The team’s goal is to ensure transparency and accountability while confirming that every qualified home gets the assistance they are supposed to without any hindrance.
Through this initiative, over 212,000 LEAP households in all 5,210 communities across the affected regions are set to receive a one-time payment of GHS 1,000 cash transfer.
The Ministry is committed to ensuring that each household receives their due assistance to meet urgent needs and recover from the dry spell’s negative impact.
