As part of its ongoing efforts to combat abuse at the community level, the Domestic Violence Secretariat (DVS) under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has empowered 30 market women in the Bono Region with essential paralegal skills.
The training was designed to equip market leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to identify, respond to, and prevent Domestic, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence (DSGBV) within their communities. By equipping these frontline advocates, the Secretariat aims to ensure quicker intervention and support for survivors of abuse.
Key areas of the training included:
Raising awareness about Domestic, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence and its impact on communities.
Strengthening the capacity of market executives to identify, document, and respond effectively to cases of abuse.
Enhancing referral pathways to connect survivors with appropriate authorities and support services.
Facilitating timely access to justice through coordinated community action and reporting.
This initiative reflects the Ministry’s broader commitment to fostering safer, more responsive communities, where survivors of abuse can access the protection, support, and justice they deserve.
