COURTESY CALL BY SPANISH AMBASSADOR TO GHANA

On Tuesday, 11th February 2025, the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency. Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, together with the Deputy Head of Missions, Embassy of Spain to Ghana and Togo, Isabel Ibarra Serrano de Haro, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, at the Ministry.
The visit aimed to explore areas of cooperation between Ghana and Spain, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and fostering partnerships to advance social protection and gender equality.
During the engagement, H. E. Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Ministry, ensuring that key policy priorities are supported.
The Sector Minister, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, outlined her vision for the Ministry, which aligns with President John Mahama’s broader agenda of enhancing social protection, empowering women, and improving the welfare of vulnerable groups, including persons living with disabilities.
She emphasized the Ministry’s ongoing efforts in women’s economic empowerment, child rights advocacy, promoting the welfare of persons living with disabilities, and social safety nets for the underprivileged.
She also highlighted the upcoming International Women’s Day, encouraging collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in initiatives that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further discussions that will contribute to the shared goals of both countries.
Present at the meeting was the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr. Afisah Zakariah.
