CAA HOLDS ADOPTION BOARD AND TECHNICAL COMMITTEE JOINT MEETING

A two-day Adoption Board and Technical Committee joint meeting to strengthen Ghana’s adoption system and child protection framework was held from Thursday, 18th to Friday, 19th December 2025, at the Hill Palace Hotel in the Eastern Region.
Organised by the Central Adoption Authority of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the meeting sought to provide a platform for an in-dept discussions on policy, legal and operational issues affecting Adoption services across the country.
Addressing the Board and Committee members on behalf of the Chief Director of MoGCSP, Dr Afisah Zakariah, the Head of the Central Adoption Authority, Mr Stephen Tikai Dombo emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Adoption Board and the Technical Committee in promoting the best interests of children and safeguarding their rights. He noted that such joint engagements are essential for informed decision-making and effective oversight of adoption matters.
Mr Stephen Tikai Dombo urged the participants to examine strategies to enhance efficiency, transparency, and inter-agency coordination in the adoption system.
Discussion focused on updates on CAA activities, reviewing existing adoption applications, addressing emerging challenges, and enhancing coordination among institutions involvedintheadoption process. Presentation was made on the 2026 CAA Workplan as well.
The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to strengthen adoption governance and advancing child welfare interventions in Ghana.
